Udupi: Registration for fifth Manipal Marathon begins, MAHE announces prize money of Rs 15 lac

Udupi, November 11: The The Manipal Academy of Higher Education has announced entries for the fifth edition of the Manipal Marathon. The event is scheduled for February 12, 2023. It is organized by MAHE in collaboration with Udupi District Amateur Athletic Association and NEB Sports Bengaluru in Manipal.

The total cash prize of Rs 15 lac has been constituted for this edition.

The 5th edition of the Manipal Marathon aims to raise awareness of childhood cancer with the slogan “Early detection saves lives-I can Cer-Vive”. MAHE and the Manipal City Rotary Club launched the 3K Rotary Run event. Funds will be raised to support and care for those in need of financial assistance for the treatment of childhood cancer. In addition to the AIMS 42K, 21K, 10K and 5K certified distance categories, there is a special fundraising category of untimed 3K which is a Rotary race.

Manipal Marathon plans to welcome around 15,000 runners in this edition, which includes participants from all age categories, attracting runners from Ethiopia, Germany, Kenya, England, Nepal, Malaysia and the Sri Lanka as in previous editions.

Speaking about the event, Vinod Nayak, Secretary of the Sports Council, said: “After the pandemic, focusing on health and well-being has become very crucial in the current times. The Manipal Marathon aims to educate students about physical fitness and motivate students and other participants to improve their physical fitness and health through regular running. With each edition, the Manipal Marathon has revolutionized the running culture in Manipal. Like every year, the atmosphere of the fifth edition promises to be electrifying and carnivalesque with tempting prizes, sumptuous cuisine and goodies for participants.
