The government is right not to adopt the US dollar as its main currency

Calls on the government to get rid of our own currency, the Zimbabwe dollar/bond, should be ignored by the ED led government.

If we look at our neighbours, especially Zambia and Mozambique, they never gave up their currencies, the former using the kwacha while the latter clung to their meticals. We can go further to Germany whose currency at one time was considered useless but they stuck to it. Which is so different that we hear calls from the opposition and from supposedly renowned economists for the US dollar to be our primary currency.

When Zimbabwe went crazy to adopt the US dollar, prices never stabilized, school fees, rates went ridiculously higher while in local authorities they gave themselves salaries that weren’t not even equaled in countries with good economies.

The calls come from a few individuals with their selfish agendas claiming to represent the people.
wages pegged to US dollar stays in neighboring countries became common as they went shopping sprees for unnecessary trinkets.

It’s not like no one is handling hard currency, if you go to the villages and the US dollars are flooded with people, then who cries over the high prices pegged to the Zimbabwean dollar?

The government should never abolish the Zimbabwe dollar, a country should have its own currency, it is the pride of a nation.

Those who are more hungry for the US dollar should not try to deceive ordinary people by telling them that with the US dollar the economy will change. The economy can change due to a myriad of policies and not the adoption of currencies from other countries like yours.
