Middlesbrough target baffled by Groningen rejecting big offer for him

FC Groningen have turned down a big offer from Spanish club Celta Vigo for Middlesbrough target Jorgen Strand Larsen which has reportedly left the striker baffled.

The striker has already expressed his frustration with the Dutch club over their stubborn refusal to accept any offers for him.

Groningen signed Larsen in the summer of 2020 and he impressed for the Dutch side, particularly last season when he scored 14 league goals.

Middlesbrough want to bring in another striker this summer to bolster their front line and Larsen is a target for them.

However, apart from Middlesbrough, Celta Vigo are also interested in him, while Italian sides Bologna and Salernitana are also said to be interested.

Groningen have now turned down a €10m offer for the Celta Vigo striker, according to the Dutch daily From Telegraaf.

The striker is baffled by the Dutchman’s decision and doesn’t understand their rejection of Celta Vigo’s offer which also included an additional million in realizable bonuses as well as a 15% sell clause.

Middlesbrough have already dropped a deal for a striker recently due to a high asking price, Preston North End’s Emil Riis Jakobsen, and with Groningen’s demands they could miss Larsen as well.
