Merck KGaA after tax Pft EUR 926m

Merck KGaA on Thursday reported higher third-quarter earnings and sales and revised its outlook for 2022, raising it for the life sciences sector while lowering guidance for its electronics arm.

The German healthcare and technology company posted an after-tax profit of 926 million euros ($927.3 million) for the period, compared with 764 million euros a year earlier. Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization – a closely watched measure that eliminates certain one-time items and which the company calls Ebitda before – was 1.81 billion euros, compared to 1.55 billion euros in Last year.

Analysts had expected a profit after tax of 988 million euros and an Ebitda before 1.80 billion euros.

Sales amounted to 5.81 billion euros, compared to 4.97 billion euros in the third quarter of 2021.

Merck raised its forecast for the life sciences sector and lowered it for the electronics division. He said he confirmed the midpoint of the absolute range for sales, EBITDA before and EPS at the group level.

The company’s total revenue is now expected to be between €22 billion and €22.9 billion, up slightly from a previous guidance range of between €21.9 billion. and 23 billion euros. Pre EBITDA is expected in a range between €6.80 billion and €7.20 billion, up from a previous guidance range of between €6.75 billion and €7. 25 billion euros, Merck said.
