Biden and Trump supporters rally outside State House

PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) – Shortly after it was announced that Joe Biden had beaten President Donald Trump to become the 46th President of the United States, supporters from both sides gathered outside the State House.

On one side of the street, Biden supporters cheered and danced as The Extraordinary Rendition Band performed.

“It’s huge, it’s just huge for all of us,” said Lisa Ranglin.

On the other hand, Trump supporters demanded that there be a recount.

“It’s going to turn into a civil war, and rightly so,” Trump backer told 12 News, adding that “Biden stole the election, everyone knows that but I would love to see him locked up and all the Democrats who participated and locked themselves in. 60 million armed Americans are ready to retaliate.

Organizers of the pro-Biden rally said they came to downtown Providence as soon as they heard the election results to celebrate.

“There are going to be so many social changes for young people, for children, for everyone for schools. I’m a teacher and we just hope everything will be different, ”said Valerie Ranglin-Brown.

“Kamala has brought so much enthusiasm to this and we’re just very motivated for change and we’re going to drive change across Rhode Island and across this country,” said Lisa Ranglin.

12 News also spoke to a group of international students from Brown University, who said the results are not only being seen in our country, but also abroad.

“The whole world is watching the elections here right now, it will affect everyone all over the world,” said Nayla Bagano.

“Trump in our country does not have good popularity,” said Eloise Broute.

Rhode Island State Police and Providence Police were also present at the rally to keep the peace between the two parties.
